What happens if Georgetown Law members return a Law Library book or Reserve item late?

Answer

Law Library late fines and policies are on the Law Library Fines & Fees page. Please also check the "Where can Georgetown Law students pay Law Library fines?" FAQ.

For non-reserved materials, Georgetown Law members may renew Law Library books through My Library Account to avoid a late fine. If the material can no longer be renewed, it must be returned. More information about renewals will be found on the "How do Georgetown Law members renew Law Library books?" FAQ.

Casebook, Course and Cool Stuff Reserve materials must be returned directly to the Law Library Circulation Desk during the desk operating hours for more immediate check-in in order to avoid overdue fines. Reserve materials left in random areas in the library, even when the desk is open, will not be checked-in. If checked out Reserve items are returned when the Circulation Desk is closed, they will not be marked as returned until the Circulation Desk next opens, and all accrued overdue fines will be assessed at that time.
