Can a Georgetown University Law Center student, faculty or staff leave personal stuff at a Law Library table or desk where I'm studying while I go get something to eat, or go to class?
Answer
We strongly recommend that no one leaves their belongings, of any kind, unattended in the library, even in the group study rooms. Thefts do occur and the library is not responsible for the safety and security of your property. Georgetown Law students should make use of the lockers located around the campus. Please check the FAQ "Does the Law Library have lockers for Georgetown University Law Center students? How can Georgetown Law Students get a locker on campus?"
If a Georgetown Law student happens to be assigned a locker in the Law Center Williams Building by Facilities Management, it will be found on the first floor.
If you forgot or lost a personal belonging while in the library, please check the Law Library "Is there a lost and found in the library?" FAQ for campus policies. The Law Library staff does not routinely, nor upon request, collect reported unattended personal items as this would make the overall library environment less welcoming. If you find personal items lost in the Law Library, or left for an unusual length of time, please turn them into the Williams Building Security Desk and provide them with the location where the items were found. You do not have to provide your name when you turn in found items.
