Why as a Georgetown Law member I can no longer log into the main campus library catalog?
When I try to log into the main campus catalog, I see a "The user is not authorized in Alma" message.
Answer
Prior to moving to a different library system in the summer of 2018, Georgetown University Law Center members were able to log into main campus' (George) catalog in order to place inter-campus loan requests for books held there. With the metadata structure of our new Alma library management system, Georgetown Law patrons do not need to search on main campus' (HoyaSearch) new catalog to find what they have. Searches for books and articles can now be performed on the Law Library's catalog which will identify materials that are owned by not only our main campus libraries, but also the local general academic libraries called the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC). Requests to borrow these other libraries' books can only be performed through our catalog system, not through main campus' catalog.
For more questions about how to search and make requests through the Law Library catalog, please reach out to the Reference Desk. For local academic loan service policy questions, please contact the Circulation Desk at 202-662-9131 or lawcirc@georgetown.edu.
