Why as a Georgetown Law patron I can no longer log into the main campus library catalog?

When I try to log into the main campus catalog, I see a "The user is not authorized in Alma" message.

Answer

Prior to moving to a different library system in the summer of 2018, Law Center patrons were able to log into main campus' (George) catalog in order to place intercampus loan requests for books held there. With the metadata structure of our new Alma system, Georgetown Law patrons no longer need to search on main campus' (HoyaSearch) catalog to find what they have. Searches for books and articles can now be performed on the Law Library's catalog which can find materials that are owned by not only our main campus libraries, but also the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC). Requests to borrow these other libraries' books (Consortium Loan Service or CLS) can now be performed through our catalog system.

For more questions about how to search and make requests through our catalog, please reach out to the Reference Desk. For CLS policy questions, please contact the Circulation Desk, 202-662-9131.
