What is Consortium Loan Service (CLS) or WRLC (Washington Research Library Consortium)?
Answer
The Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) is a partnership of the libraries and information services of local universities to promote research and preserve and share scholarly resources. The sharing of local libraries' resources is the Consortium Loan Service (CLS), or informally the local academic loan service, that the Law Library is able to offer to current Georgetown Law students, staff and faculty. Through CLS, Georgetown Law members may request a material owned by another local academic library member and have it routed to the Law Library. Currently, local academic library members include the main / general libraries of Georgetown, American, Catholic, George Mason, George Washington and others. CLS is a separate service from the Law Library Interlibrary Loan service.
See the Law Library FAQ on how to place a CLS or local academic loan request. For more information about how to place an order, please consult the Reference Desk. For library account questions, consult the Circulation Desk, 202-662-9131.
Non-law Georgetown University or Capitol Campus members receive their local academic loan service or CLS through their home libraries, either Lauinger Library Access Service (accessservices@georgetown.edu, 202-687-7607) or Dahlgren Memorial (Medical) Library (DML) Document Delivery. If there is a Law Library-held book that non-law Georgetown members would like to borrow, then please contact your home library for assistance.
