Can I have food in the Law Library? What is the library's food policy?

Answer

You are welcome to eat odorless, quiet, greaseless food in most areas in the Law Library. Aromatic, noisy, or greasy foods are not permitted. No food is allowed in the Reading Room (2d floor), the Special Collections Reading Room (2d floor), the Media Services room (1st floor), or the computer lab (3d floor west) and Computer Learning Center (Reading Room 2nd, floor). Please be considerate of your fellow law students and keep your noise to a minimum when eating.

Beverages in closable containers are permitted in the Law Library except in these locations: the computer lab and Computer Learning Center. No beverage cans are allowed in the library.

Legal Eats Café is located on the first floor of the library and is a great place to take a break, purchase a snack or eat your meal. A hot water dispenser can be found in the café as well, along with a mini refrigerator (no freezer compartment).

For meal options outside of the library, please visit the Georgetown Law web page on dining.
